The Osteoporosis Resource Center
of Herndon
The Osteoporosis Resource Center (ORC) is a unique facility offering a
wide variety of S.A.F.E. and effective exercise programs, workshops and
assessments for those diagnosed with bone and joint health issues.
Our programs and classes are ideal for anyone diagnosed with
osteopenia, osteoporosis, fibromyalgia or neck, back, hip
or knee pain.
Here are just a few of our Center offerings:
Posture Perfect!TM Classes
Improving posture and balance and increasing back and hip strength are all important in reducing your risk of falls and hip and vertebral compression fractures. Our small group classes will improve your balance, strengthen back and leg muscles, teach you safer ways to sit, stand and lift while helping you alleviate pain and improve how you look and feel. This class is also a good choice for beginners, post rehabilitation or as a supplement to an existing program. |
Be Bone Strong!TM
A complete, safe and effective personal bone health program that helps you improve bone quality and strength. Each customized program includes a lifestyle assessment and a personalized, easy to follow support plan.
Be Bone Strong!TM helps you improve balance to reduce falls risk, eat healthier meals to fortify your body and reduce stress to lessen your anxiety, worry and fear. This program is ideal for improving osteopenia, osteoporosis and fibromyalgia as well as back, neck, hip and knee problems. |
Yoga for Osteoporosis
Yoga is a great activity for both your mind and body.
Bonnie Elliott of Opening Moves Yoga has created a safe and effective yoga program with modified traditional yoga poses. Her classes allow you to reap Yoga's benefits of bone and muscle strengthening and relaxation without the fear of spinal fractures or other bone damage. Her classes can also helpful if you have back, hip, knee or shoulder pain.

Tai Chi for Osteoporosis
Tai Chi can be very helpful in reducing the risk of falls by improving balance, body control and strength. It is also helps you relax by quieting your mind and lifting your mood.
Roger Blough of Qi Elements offers Tai Chi for Osteoporosis, a safe and effective form to help improve balance, increase bone strength and reduce stress. His modified Tai Chi approach is also helpful if you have a painful back, hips, knees or shoulders.
